Matching EQ Settings between Audition and GoXLR
EQ Settings
Low-Pass Filter
- Set the low-pass filter to -5dB at 30Hz for an approximately 40Hz 18dB/octave cut (standard for Mixpre interfaces).
EQ Bands
- The EQ bands use a normal bell curve, not a proportional one.
- Set the EQ bell Q to 1 (instead of the default 2 in Audition).
High Shelf Settings
- Setting the high shelf below 8kHz causes a weird 5dB dip around 4.5-5kHz.
- For a linear brightness boost, set the high shelf above 10kHz.
- To boost the 9-10kHz range by 2dB, set the high shelf to 12kHz +4dB.
Matching Audition Settings in the GoXLR
Low Cut EQ Matching
- To match the Low Cut found in the Audition EQ, set the low-pass on the GoXLR 10Hz lower (set it to -5dB to match the curve of Audition).
- For example, if setting a low cut at 60Hz in Audition, set the low-pass filter to 50Hz on the GoXLR.
EQ Shape Matching
- To match the GoXLR EQ shape in Audition, set the Audition EQ Q to 1 instead of the default Q of 2.
- The GoXLR EQ values round to hundredths past the first 3 bands, it doesn't remember anything less.
- For example, if you set a band to 1240Hz, it will round down to 1200Hz.
Compressor Settings
These settings would match your personal settings for the SSL 4000E plugin from Brainworx:
Setting | Value |
---|---|
Threshold | -19dB |
Ratio | 1.2:1 |
Attack | 40ms |
Release | 85ms |
Reduce the threshold to taste after matching the settings.
